Could This Be Scotland’s Tastiest Run Club?
Pastry-Powered Motivation
If you’ve ever needed a little bit of extra motivation to get out for a run, we might have just cracked the code. We know how much you love our fudge doughnuts, so we have launched a brand new doughnut-fuelled weekly running group in our hometown of St Andrews!
It’s called the Fudge Doughnut Run Club, and it’s exactly what it sounds like: a casual, welcoming Sunday morning run followed by coffee and a doughnut (if you fancy it) back at our South Street café. Equal parts endorphins and indulgence, the club invites locals and visitors of all abilities to enjoy a scenic jog around the historic coastal town – no pressure, no PBs, just a great start to your Sunday.
The idea was sparked by one of St Andrews’ most beloved events: the Chariots of Fire Beach Race, where hundreds of runners recreate the iconic film moment on the West Sands. Every year, we donate over 800 fudge doughnuts to be enjoyed at the finish line. The sight of happy, sandy runners biting into their post-race reward inspired us to keep that magic going all year long.
“The Chariots race is always such a brilliant day,” says Chloe Milne, one of the fifth-generation family member behind the bakery. “We thought – why should that joyful energy only happen once a year? We wanted to bring it into the heart of the town, every week. I definitely need motivation to get me running, and I am sure I’m not alone!”
What Makes Our Run Club Special?
Pastry as Purpose
This is the running club for anyone who needs a pastry-shaped reason to get moving. There’s no competition – just the promise of a post-run treat that makes the whole thing worthwhile.
A Route Through History
The run takes in the beautiful, windswept streets and coastline of St Andrews. Whether you’re jogging past medieval university buildings or catching sea air along the shore, we’ll enjoy a route rich in character.
For All Abilities
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or more of a Sunday stroller, everyone is welcome. There’s no set pace and no pressure – just a community of people getting outside, getting to know each other and moving together.
Coffee & Camaraderie
The run will end at our South Street café where participants can relax and get themselves a coffee and (of course) a fudge doughnut. It’s as much about the post-run chat as the cardio!
